- Wakes up at 9AM and sits on computer (Mac logo hidden by a passport size photo of Sam Altman stuck to it), it’s late, but who cares? He doesn’t have to stay awake worrying about his deliverables. Sam is with him. He straight up joins the meeting, and uses Fireflies to take notes.
- Hybrid model of WFH and WFO, goes to office one day, peels off the Sam photo off his laptop in shame, looking left and right, in fear of judgement
- At lunch break, while others are texting or calling their spouses, he lets off a confident whiff of air from his nose and then he asks ChatGPT, “I’m bored of the canteen stuff. What should I eat?” (in Hindi) -> Canteen ke khaane se pakk gaya hun yaar. Aaj kya khaya jaye?
- ChatGPT snarkily replies in Hindi, “Mera mundi. lekin wo toh tum roz hi khaatein ho, hain na? Chalo aaj chupchap canteen wala rajma chawal khalo, protein bhi hai and fibre bhi.”
- Friday night, his boss asked him over a Google Meet if the work was done. It wasn’t. But he thought he could get it finished over the weekend. Two whole days, with the help of ChatGPT. So he lied to his boss and said yes. His boss got happy and looked satisfied, and let him off the hook, so he ran home early that day.
- He gets back home, slings his bag over the proverbial fence, sits in his pooja room, where we see multiple framed photos of Sam Altman with flower garlands on them and he lights an incense stick, swirls it around in front of his face, smells it, gets happy, and bows his head in front of him till it touches the ground, then asks for blessings after chanting custom Sam Altman mantras, as he does everyday, and thanks him for the previous projects he delivered, and got a promotion in consequence of it.
- On Saturday, he procrastinated his work, whiffs off work thought by shaking his palms behind his shoulder. Parties with friends all night, drinks.
- Hungover, he wakes up, and decides to start work. He opened the ChatGPT tab on browser. To his dismay, it was not loading. No amount of refreshing the tab helped. Went on Twitter, it seems to be down, he thinks to himself, but the netizens are sure.
- He cries internally, then externally. In his head, he rolls the spinning wheel, hoping to get different outcomes, like one shot prompt, bit of work, perfectly done, additional features, extra creative, gibberish, but all he got was “Not your day”
- His soul went out of his body. (editing) A photo of “In loving memory of …”
- Shakes his face, comes back to reality. Thinks of attempting the hardest thing, not climbing Mount Everest, not crawling through a trench, not winning a swim competition, not running away from a cheetah, … trying, to write his own code.
- People like his mom and spouse and kids keep bringing him cut-up fruits and three course meals, petting him and motivated him, about what a hard worker he is to spend all his life in front of a computer, and he gulps, thinks about the good ol’ days he still had ChatGPT up and running at his service, wipes the smirk off his face, and thinks to himself about what a big liar he is, and how the last line of code he wrote was back in 2019, when there were no AIs or LLMs, and even that wasn’t code, but HTML to change the background color of a body element.
- Asks for noob help on StackOverflow. Every contributor thrashes him in replies and downvotes him to death.
- Having lost all hope, he enrolls in a course finally. But it is an intermediate course, of which he understands nothing at all. Lamenting, he tries other AI apps like Gemini, but no one knows his needs like ChatGPT did (he even had the Pro plan purchased for a year), no matter how much context he uploaded.
