Did you just find out that you’re pregnant? And were you trying for months, or maybe it was a total surprise but you want to keep your baby?
Pregnancy scare or pregnancy heir?
Well if it’s the latter, there’s no time to waste then. This is a handy guide I made for myself after extensive research in case that happens to me, so that I have a digital shoulder to lean on to keep me and my fetus the healthiest and safest, instead of freaking out, which is totally normal too.
Before getting pregnant
- Exercise and lose weight to avoid gestational diabetes and C-section
- Take folic acid and calcium to avoid defects
- Focus on career
- Save up money for kid
- Plan on getting married legally
- Have a lot of sex
- Talk to therapist about getting pregnant
- Find a good doctor
During pregnancy
- Continue folic acid
- Double down on calcium, choline, iron-rich foods
- Limit coffee
- Cook meats, fish and eggs better (raw is dangerous)
- Don’t exercise too much
- Regular ultrasound scans and checkups
- Take prenatal vitamins
- Try to avoid takeout food
- Brush daily to have healthy gums (no preterm birth)
- Don’t smell VOCs (thinners, paint, pesticides)
- For acne, don’t use anything other than azelaic, salicylic or glycolic acid
- Do more of what you love
- Build a crib
- Clean the house
