3 Big Reasons To Take a Break from Business

Hey copywriter friend on the internet,

You’re amazing. But could you please get up from that big tattered-at-the-butt executive chair and prove to me that you’re not superglued to it? I promise there are no surveillance cameras. I just … know.

Life goes on, and so does business. But how long will it run smoothly if the engine’s all burned out? Here’s how small breaks can do wonders for your biz.

Burnout is real.

I’m sure you’ve heard this phrase over a gazillion times. What you might not have heard is — copywriters spend more time working than a regular content writer.

Yes. Content writers do research. They curate articles, newsletters, with the facts and figures intact. Value 🤌 — mamma mia! Copywriters do more than just that.

The work of a copywriter is creative in nature.

If you’re one, you have to put your neck into the sand dunes of targeted marketing and sell them based on their related experiences.

Personalized emails. Ads which make viewers fall head-over-heels. Drawing from Google Trends and keeping out clickbaits.

Add SEO into the mix — and you’ll need more than just a beer. Creative words which … rank in Google?

It takes more than just a creative human to do all that.

I’m sorry to break it to you but — your perseverance is killing you. And now it’s time to sleep if you do anything in my list:

This applies to every profession, not just copywriters. This applies to you even if you’re just starting out.

Okay, hear me out.

This is a picture of a kid who has been handed over a huge corn cob. The kid wants it. No doubt. But can he really have it?

This will happen if you’re already knee-deep in a busy copywriting project, but you are trying to take on yet another, knowing well you don’t have the time and will have to clock 18 hours on a minimum.

Who am I to say what you can do, or can’t?

Live your life. Forget me. Remove my website from your bookmarks (okay don’t go that far).

Here’s my two cents. A person who’s burnt out can’t perform their best. It will impact your work, too (you care about it, right?)

People avoid out-of-order stalls. They don’t call up personnel to help fix it. They are in a hurry to complete their ‘business’.

Practice self-love.

No one can do it for you. Because once you do break, you can’t just put a Band-Aid on your health problems and carry on. The car can though. You are not a car. I love you.
